                                                             Multimodality and 21st Century Skills

The 21st century experiences a range of diversity needs including in the education system. Students require adaptability skills to be successful. This allows students to be flexible in diverse learning environments characterized by cultural and religious backgrounds (Litonjua, 2021). They also need collaboration skills to enable them to interact with other students and instructors for success. Students need critical thinking skills to solve complex problems due to the improved decision-making associated with this skill. Instructors should still teach traditional literacy such as essay and report writing. Traditional literacy is fundamental in education as it enhances the expression of students from different perspectives (Princeton, 2019). This is essential in evaluating the progress of students and equipping them with a better environment to share their ideas and Understanding. Besides, instructors should adopt new forms of literacy into their teaching methods. The contemporary world requires diverse skills to navigate professional scopes. New forms of literacy such as the integration of technology enhance modern skillsets among students (Princeton, 2019). This makes them more relevant in the contemporary complex world full of diversity and technological advancements.

Diversity remains at the centre of matching literacies when adapting assessment strategies among instructors. It promotes the effective adoption of both assessment types and assessment formats (Litonjua, 2021). This caters for variations among students in terms of diagnostics, formative, authentic, and summative learning aspects. Effective learning will be achieved since diversity matches the literacies efficiently.

According to Hazard (2019), education varies from one social setting to another. This means that instructors have to consider the learners’ social background in determining the identity and literacy levels of students. In this case, the explanation means that social settings shape the educational outcomes of learners. Therefore, it requires learners to place themselves in the most appropriate social environment to gain positive education outcomes.

  1. I totally agree with the fact that critical thinking is the utmost important skill that everyone should learn. Considering students background helps learner to be mindful of giving instructions and consider culture oriented activities to bring social interaction. By offering several channels for learning and expression, multimodal techniques enable educators to meet this diversity. Teachers may accommodate a variety of learning styles and preferences and increase accessibility and engagement for all students by integrating visual, aural, and kinesthetic elements into their materials and activities. Additionally, through multimodal communication, students can express themselves creatively and genuinely, using their personal experiences and cultural backgrounds to illustrate how they grasp the material.

In order to succeed in a variety of learning situations, I agree that it is crucial to develop flexibility, collaboration, and critical thinking. The need for educators to incorporate new types of literacy, such as technology, is in line with how the workforce is changing. I value how assessment procedures are diverse and address various facets of learning. In order to prepare students for a complex and diverse world, the essay successfully argues for a balanced strategy that combines conventional and modern literacies.
